Australian Music Schools

Junior Starter (Ages 4–5)

The Junior Starter Course introduces children to music through an aural-based approach, similar to the natural way they learn language. Throughout the course, students engage in a wide variety of musical activities that help them develop an understanding of the aural, visual, and practical aspects of music.

The program focuses on key areas such as listening, singing, rhythm training, music appreciation, keyboard playing, and an introduction to pitch notation. Singing and active listening are central to the course. Children enjoy a range of lyric and action songs that build confidence, encourage participation, and foster a love of singing. Solfege singing (Do-Re-Mi) plays an important role in developing accurate pitch, strong listening skills, and the early foundations of vocal technique.

Designed as an 8–10 week program, leading into the Junior course.
